Social media comment management, explained
Social media comment management is the practice of collecting comments from every platform you post on into a single queue, deciding which ones need answering first, and replying without opening each app in turn. It is a different job from social media publishing, and most tools that claim to do both are publishing calendars with an inbox attached.

Why comments get missed
A comment section is not a queue. Each platform shows comments newest first, inside the post they belong to, with no sense of which ones matter. A question from someone about to buy looks identical to a fire emoji, and by tomorrow it is on page two of a post you have stopped looking at.
Multiply that by four platforms and the failure is structural, not one of effort. There is no single place where "what has been answered" exists, so two people reply to the same person, or nobody does.
What a comment inbox actually does
A comment management tool does four things. It collects comments from connected accounts into one list. It classifies them, so a complaint and a buying question are visibly different from praise. It orders them, so the urgent ones are at the top rather than the newest ones. And it holds a status per comment, so a team can see what has already been handled.
Replim adds a fifth: it prepares a draft reply for a person to approve. Nothing is sent automatically. You can watch that sequence run on the walkthrough on our home page, which follows one comment from arrival to answered.
Comment tools compared
Every figure below is each tool's cheapest paid plan, checked on 8 August 2026. All of them are the annual-commitment rate quoted per month, which is how this category advertises; paying month to month costs more at every one of them. Replim's $29 is a true monthly price. Verify before you buy, because these change.
| Tool | Cheapest plan | Priced by | Built around |
|---|---|---|---|
| Replim | $29/mo | Workspace | Comments only |
| Metricool | $25/mo | Brands | Analytics and publishing |
| Agorapulse | $79/user/mo | Seat tiers | Publishing and inbox |
| Sprout Social | $79/seat/mo | Seat | Publishing suite |
| Hootsuite | $99/user/mo | Seat | Publishing suite |
Cheapest is not the same as comparable. Sprout's $79 Essentials tier has only limited inbox functionality; the shared team inbox starts on Standard at $199 per seat per month. A table like this rewards whoever draws the line most generously, so check which plan actually carries the feature you came for before comparing anything.
The pattern worth noticing is the priced by column. Most of this category charges per seat, which taxes the thing you want most: more people helping clear the queue. If you are weighing a specific one, we have written up how Replim compares with Sprout Social, with Hootsuite and with Agorapulse.
How to choose one
Four questions settle it quickly.
- Do you need publishing? If you already schedule posts somewhere you are happy with, a publishing suite is mostly cost.
- How many people reply? Per-seat pricing decides the real bill long before the sticker price does.
- Which platforms? Coverage varies, and YouTube and LinkedIn are the two most often missing.
- Do you want anything sent automatically? Some tools auto-reply. Replim deliberately does not; a person approves every reply.
What Replim does not do
- It does not schedule or publish posts. There is no content calendar. Replim handles what arrives after you post, not the posting.
- It does not send replies automatically. Every reply is a draft until a person approves it. There is no setting that turns automatic replying on.
- It does not support X/Twitter, TikTok, Reddit or Threads. Four platforms only: Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube.
- It does not manage direct messages. Public comments only. DMs stay in the platform they arrived in.
Replim is a comment management tool, not a social media publishing suite. If you need a content calendar, you need a second tool alongside it.
Questions people ask
What is social media comment management?
It is the practice of collecting comments from every platform into one queue, prioritising them, and replying from a single place. It is distinct from social media publishing, which is about scheduling posts.
What is the difference between a social inbox and a comment inbox?
A social inbox usually mixes comments, direct messages, mentions and review notifications together. A comment inbox handles comments only, which keeps the queue smaller and easier to prioritise. Replim is the second kind.
Can I manage Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and YouTube comments in one tool?
Yes. Replim covers exactly those four. Some larger suites add TikTok, X and Pinterest, usually at a higher price point.
How much does comment management software cost?
The cheapest paid plan runs from about $25 to $99 per month as of 8 August 2026, all quoted at the annual-commitment rate. Plans that include a shared team inbox cost more — Sprout Social's starts at $199 per seat per month. The wide range is mostly per-seat versus flat pricing rather than a difference in features.
Does comment management software reply automatically?
Some do. Replim does not. It prepares a draft and waits for a person to approve it, because an automated reply sent to an angry customer is worse than a slow one.
